One of our favorite things about opening our Detroit studio is having the space to bring new voices into the conversation. As soon as we started filling our suite at Saint Vincent Corktown, we decided to offer internships to local students. The talent pool here is undeniably deep, with spirited, experienced creatives at every turn. It’s definitely an exciting time to be in Detroit.
Although we met several remarkable talents during the interview process, two individuals stood out: Trisha Dring and Wayne Bussey. Their proven ability and experience were obvious, but their dedication to their craft was what sold us. As a company, we enjoy tackling thoughtful creative projects, and we realized Trisha and Wayne both clearly shared our passion for good design.
Trisha Dring
As she approaches her graduation from the College of Creative Studies, Trisha Dring is also serving as M3D’s web design intern. She’s already busy building and updating client websites, improving overall responsiveness, and reworking our company site.
While studying graphic design at CCS, Trisha’s focus has been coding and web design. After earning her degree, she plans to stay in Detroit, continuing her web development work full time. Don’t be surprised if you also find her pattern-making, sewing clothes, or painting murals on the side.
Remember Myspace? Trisha does. In fact, her dream used to be learning to code Myspace templates. Fortunately for us, she branched out quite a bit, calling upon her itinerant military upbringing for inspiration. During high school, she lived on base at Camp Zama, in Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture. While there, she taught herself to code, built a website for her high school, and covered school and regional events for U.S. government publications.
Wayne Bussey
His trusty Canon Rebel as constant companion, Wayne Bussey comes to us from Wayne State University, his diploma in media/film studies (with a side of philosophy!), nearly in hand. As our Social Media intern, Wayne is extending our social media reach, covering client events and helping us with a wide range of social, photography and video projects.
Before coming to M3D, Wayne managed social media for Ponyride, Detroit’s home for socially conscious entrepreneurship. He’s also produced work for Detroit Future Schools, centered around the idea of humanizing education for Detroit public school students. He knows first-hand what he’s talking about, as a lifelong Detroiter and DPS grad himself.
In love with all things visual since childhood, Wayne spent many blissful afternoons consuming and analyzing all types of media. Eventually, he realized he wanted to create his own film projects. Since then, he’s built a lush visual portfolio, created education-related media pieces, and executed social media strategy for non-profits.
As summer progresses, keep watching this space for news from M3D’s Corktown office. Wayne and Trisha are already immersed in several creative projects and we can’t wait to share what they’ve been cooking up.
